Maple Crest- Sugaring with Friends Certified Organic Maple Syrup

Our Story

Located just minutes from Mt. Mansfield, Vermont we are a family owned, Certified Organic, Maple Syrup Producer. What started as a High School hobby with a best friend 45 years ago, turned into a life long dream of producing Maple Syrup. Over the years we have outgrown two sugarhouses, which led us to the one we are in today. We currently boil sap from 23,000 taps on our wood fired evaporator. While this is a family operation, our motto has always been "Sugaring with Friends", as we couldn't, and wouldn't want to do this without the help and company of our Friends & Family!

Proud Members of Chittenden County Sugarmakers Association & VT Maple Festival Board Member.

About Us

The Owners

The One's Who Started it all

Dave & Debbie have grown this maple operation together for over 30 years to what it is now.  Dave started this in High School and after marrying Debbie they have since worked together year after year improving Maple Crest.

Firing the rig to make Maple Syrup

Dave & Kohlton

Firing the rig to keep the temperature high enough to produce Maple Syrup from sap from Maple Trees. Kohlton is Dave's son in law who has just as much of a passion for working in the sugarwoods and producing Maple Syrup.

Checking for Maple Syrup consistency

Debbie

Debbie checking the maple syrup as it is boiling to determine if the proper density has been achieved.

Walking lines in the fall preparing for the season

Colleen & Our Next Generation

Walking lines in the fall checking for down pipeline, down trees or branches, squirrel,  bear, or deer chews, and unplugging spouts so the lines can drain before it freezes. This is done every fall to prepare for tapping trees in January.

Our tapping crew!

Some of the Crew

We are thankful to have so many Friends & Family to help us in the woods while tapping trees, walking lines and cutting Firewood to fuel our arch. We also have occasional help from other Family members who have their own sugarwoods when they have time. During sugaring season we have others who work in the Sugar House to help us with boiling the sap and operations.

The best company in the woods

Misha & Sasha

Can't forget the most important part of our crew- our huskies! They spend most of their days in the sugarwoods keeping Kohlton company and busy looking for where they have wandered off to. We have tracking collars to keep track of where they are because Huskies are known for their disappearing acts in a split second. ;)

And as you can see they like to dig around down tree roots to pass the time.
